ARMENTROUT & GRUBB can be found in HARDY CO VA 1785. Many of them, along with SHOBE , HIRE/HIER/HYER, CARRs and more moved to SURRY NC. May include TIREY/TYRE & TERRELL/TYRELL/TERYL. Some were in ASHE CO NC. Some went to IL with Rev.David Badgely Party from VA to MONROE & ST.CLAIR IL 1798. I believe if you go back to HARDY area you may find you ancestors. I know BONHAM, ANDERSON, and others were in RANDOLPH/TUCKER area around 1800, as they married into some of the CARR families. GINNY 2 at ginnynumbertwo@yahoo.com

Even Caroline, listed as keeping house in 1870, may have been just a live-in. Maybe she was his servant. Louisa's children were born in the 1850's, and later she was teaching school. Maybe he was in Rev.War and stationed in VA when he met Elsie. Maybe he just deserted the other two, or divorced them. If Elsie had several children with other men, maybe she was a groupie/banger sister of the day. Many hung around military bases looking for love/support. It was still happening in WWII and may still be happening today. GINNY 2

Victoria Ward born 1873 in Va Minnie Myrtle Ward born 1879 in Bearwallow, Va. James Thomas Ward born 1880 in Bearwallow, VA. Ward is their last name, but that might not be what they are listed under.... Mother was Mary A. Ward born about 1852, Did not marry and gave her kids her last name, she did not raise them... I heard that Victoria and Minnie were living with their Grandfather Zachariah Ward before the 1880 Census...Not sure where they were in the 1880 Census... I did find Victiora in the 1900 Tazewell Co. Census with her grandfather Zachariah. James and Minnie were raising their little brother Jesse in the 1900 Buchanan Co. Census. Jesse was born 1891 in Bearwallow, also... I am checking in Grayson Co., Buchanan Co. and Tazewell Co. they were more then liking living with other family memebers.....around 1906 James was married and still lived in the Buchanan Co. area... I was told that his mother Mary lived down the street from them. but can not find her in the 1900 or 1910 Census. Without having the 1890 Census I am at a loss as to where they were then. So if anybody out there has any of these 3 children listed in a family and are not sure where they came from or where they went, drop me a line at scofield62001@yahoo.com Thank you for your time and help, Oneida

Her sister Frances died 1828 in Louisa Co. I would write for the Frances Bourn's Estate papers if they still have them. See if she leaves anything to them. Also there is a John Bourn who had a deed in Surry Co. NC formerly of Louisa Co. Va. I would check that county good. Also her sister Elizabeth married George Mallory in 1790. They owned land in Louisa and resided in Hanover Co. Va. I would check Hanover Co. records. Go to the Bourn book and also read the page 17 and there is a lot of clues and leads to follow in getting these documents. Don't know what the margin may have written on them. Will keep and eye out too. Cause this Stephen and Hanna are the parents to my GGGgrandfather Stephen ("Devil Steve" ). Lana

They had land surveyed in Montgomery Co., now Grayson Co., in 1783. They went to N.C., returned to Grayson Co., and by 1813 they were living in Clinton Co., Ohio. Three of their children were: A. John Sturivan, Jr. married 25 July 1809,Grayson, Alice Haughey. B. Patience Sturdivan Married John Haughey in Grayson. Abt. 1809. I would assume that Alice and John may have been related. Maybe brother and sister and may have got married the same day possibly. Just my assumption. Would have to check into it more. C. Patty (Martha?) Sturdivan married 23 March 1802, Grayson, Jesse Hiatt. The above is what is in the Bourn Book by Cutchshaw. Except the comment I made on Alice and John. Have you looked in the Montgomery Co. records for their marriage. Also at that time some of the marriages were still being registered at Fincastle, in Botetourt Co. Va. as Montgomery broke off from it. I would check there. Also note that they went to NC. They could have gotten married at Sparta. My Josepha A. and Mary Bourn Taylor lived in Sparta for a while. They went back and forth over the New River in their living. I would also Check to see when Wythe Co. was broke off. I have forgot the exact year. I would check the surrounding counties for and before 1802. Check the Archieve for Va. at Richmond. They got married back then by posting the intent to marry at a public place three times and that was excepted as them being married. I will think on this a while and get back if I think of something else. These are some of our brick walls that never get tore down. I would look for the deed to the land in Montgomery Co, Va. as it may have other notes in the deed b! ook on the margin. Like it may list her as his wife may be as close as you will get. Need to check all the book at courthouse for their names and see if anything is written in the margins. Some time they listed things like that in the books other than the marriage books. I have found a lot of good things that way. Unbelievable but true. I would also check the tax records for the boundrey counties in NC for Sturdivan name and look in the records of the county he shows up in. Hope this helps. Lana
