We live on what was once Bloomsbury, and the original land grant was to a Henry Singleton in 1650. The property passed through many hands since then and is now called Ditchley after the Lee's Ditchley in England. The house is not original to Bloomsbury except the basement - the basement we believe to be original to all 3 homes on the site - the first 2 were burned and rebuilt over the previous site. But we are resourcing the history of the families that lived here and how they aftected the property as well as the county of GLoucester and state of Virginia. We are the caretakers here and we are compiling the info for the current owner - Mr. Michael Suttle Jr. If you have any info on Mr Singleton we would be happy to get it! We also believe he donated the land that Singlton United Methodist Church now sits on - also here in Ware Neck. We would love to hear back from you!
