In the Norfolk newspaper this morning, there is an article about some of the men that were on the "Monitor" when it sunk. It says: "Among the listings is one for Robert Cook (sic), of Gloucester County, who was probably a slave, an 18 year old black man who signed on for a three year term as ":first class boy" and served on the ship "until he drowned with the vessel on Dec. 31., 1862." The spelling of Cook, was probably a typo and should be spelled Cooke. Jane
