From my father's stories and from talking to family members down in Gloucester (including Buck), the family Bible was stolen from Buck's store a long time ago. Facsimiles of some genealogical pages are archived in Virginia (I forget where, but I can find out if you want). I have extensive info on the Rowe's in VA back to 1767, and a patrilineage (no dates, I'm afraid) from then back to around 1600. Let me know by email if you need any more info.
Chamah Cheskchamay I'm a Tribal Council Member of the Wicocomico Indian Nation, a Chiefdom of the Powhatan Empire ( Confederacy) during the late 1500s and middle 1600s. After the Empire broke up we made separate treaties with the English as the other Chiefdoms of the Powhatan Empire did. Recently we were placed on the Federal Register for Federal recognition. Currently we have a well documented family lineage on Taptico and Tapp and beginning research on Vesey and Curtis which we think are family names of the Wicocomico. We are also directing our research to find other Native Americans that are descendants of the Wicocomico , Chickacone and Corotoman. These three tribes merged in 1652-55 at the direction of the Northumberland County Council. If you or you know of any one that has a Native American heritage and has not been able to determine their heritage, please contact Al Byrd at byrdman@theriver.com ALL INFORMATION WILL BE SECURE, NO INFORMATION WILL BE GIVEN TO ANYONE OTHER THAN THE WICOCOMICO COUNCIL TO DETERMINE IF YOU ARE A DESCENDANT OF THE WICOCOMICO. Robert PEYTON (b.ca 1677 in Gloucester Co., VA) was the youngest son of Major Robert Peyton, of Gloucester Co., VA. He married Mary Long, a widow and moved to Bath Co., NC. His will (written 1733) mentions a number of children, including a daughter, Sarah Peyton. A published source dating from the 1920s gives Sarah Peyton as being born 10 Jul 1722 and marrying Arthur DUDLEY, son of William and Jemima Dudley. I seek confirmation of this information. Your assistance is appreciated. C. Ward CMW12635@aol.com

I did a search on Ancestry.com NY Census records and it listed some VEST entries for the 1790, 1800 and 1810 US Census data from New York, presumably could have been relations. If you have access to Ancestry.com or Census CDs from these years, you might have a little luck. I no longer have a subscription so I can't see the entries, so no garantees on what you'll find. There are free census on-line projects like http://www.census-online.com/genweb/index.html, where you may find info. Good Luck, K. Vest

Surnames: Butler Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hAC.2ACE/1189 Message Board Post: I am looking for the ancestry of William Butler born about 1735 somewhere in Virginia. At some point he moved to Maryland where at least one of his sons was born, John R. Butler (Aug. 10, 1769). From Maryland, it appears that William moved back to Virginia and then to what is know Kentucky. He built “Butler's Station” in Adair Co. KY in 1789. The rest of his children are as follows, David b. abt 1774, Elkanah "Lcain" b. abt. 1785, William b. ?, Isaac b. ?, Nathan b. ?, James b. ?. Of these children I don’t know where any of them were born. William also seems to have been in the following places Tazewell & Montgomery County, VA, and Crab Orchard, VA in 1768. My goal is to find more details about William’s family. Any help with this line would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time, Mac Crawford
