There was a reference to early inhabitants as those with "blue goose eyes." Here in nuevo mexico we have a group of Spaniards who have an eye of one color and an eye of another color. Has anyone heard of blue-goose eyes or blue goose-eyes?
<PRE>Diana Stroud, daughter of James Stroud and Diana Belvin Stroud, was born 1813 (1850 census). She chose William Green for her guardian April 02, 1835. These two married. She heired a portion of Benjamin Stroud's estate. Children were: James Green born 1836 and Joseph Green born 1841. William Green died before 1850 Census (York County) was taken. Could this be your relative?

I have seen the info on the Hudgins web page, but I have found that alot of the info in the newspaper articles is incorrect. I thought if I posted a query on the Gloucester message board someone would have some documented info to share. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my query, and sharing the info you have found. By the way, what plantations are you researching? I live in Mathews Co. VA next to Gloucester Co. Va, and many of the families I'm researching have ties to family plantations in Gloucester. Thanks again, Becky

Go to www.Google.com. in the Search place type "Exchange Plantation" + Gloucester, VA Exactly like the above appears, it will bring up anytthing with those two combinations. Try it. The "quotes" Keep "Exchange Plantation" together, and the Gloucester, VA will bring up anything for Gloucester County. Make up your own combinations and see what you come up with. Also if a long written page comes up like in the THIRD search on the above combination comes up, go to Edit and click on Find in Top Window, In the search place type Hudgins and the search will take you to each Hudgins, keep clicking find, and it will go through the whole page. That way you don't have to read everything. Let me know if you need further help, this google.com is fascinating. Kay

Also a John and William Tabb acted as commisioners named by the court for the Hogg family. Robert Tabb also had land next to the Hogg family. There were marriages between the Hoggs and the Schacklefords. All located in York County. Robert was there 1818 and John And William in 1850. Hope you can understand this and it helps. Debbie

Someone else suggested that I check the York Co. site and I found the Rent Roll there this morning. Now I have 3 more counties to query, maybe I'll get lucky. One later generations of our Bass family lived in Powhatan Co. where Thomas R. Bass married Sarah Eliz. Ann Mayo in 1839 and they later moved to Richmond, VA. So Henrico and Chesterfield seem very likely. Just wish there was a Sackleford line there too. By the way, when I looked at the Rent Roll, I wanted to check out other names. It didn't show the entire "W" list and said it was too much to show it all. Is there any way to access the entire "W" list? That York Co. site has a lot of fantastic links. I'll be going back there soon. Thanks again for your help.
