At this time RootsWeb is experiencing problems. Not all areas are being affected the same way. Some of us, as County Coordinators, cannot upload new material to their sites or listers cannot post messages to the list. On the other hand, some areas do not seem to be affected at all. This problem started about 3-4 days ago and has been traced to the server alter.net that RootsWeb connects to, called the "backbone" server. Here is the latest update I have received regarding this problem. >>They said there are backbones in trouble and are in repair now. At this moment there is massive system abuse overseas (out of USA) along with extra heavy number of spams flooding the backbone right now.<< I hope they find/catch whom ever is responsible for this. It was built and lived in by the Page family, it had later owners but none named Rosewell. One myth has it that the water "rose well" in a spring very close by, hence the name. Some research was done on the naming however nothing was found to my knowledge.

He is later listed by his unit, the 26th VA. Infantry, Co. F, as having deserted, since he never showed up again. On his Confederate Soldier's Pension application (its hard to read) is appears that he says he was captured. He did survive the war, and I am looking for records of his capture, and where he was sent. Do you have a way of finding out if he might have been at Elmira? I have been able to find nothing on the net concerning prisoners who survived Elmira. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
