As I continued to look into the sky, I saw clouds forming on the skyline. Usually this would mean rain or bad weather but today was different... Little did I know but the day would unfold to reveal death, shock, sadness, and empty answers not to mention tremendous human suffering. As I proceeded to let the day unfold, a small a sparrow came and perched on my shoulder. It was small, clean, and very pretty. It was a little nervous and afraid but I could tell he really wanted to reach out to me. I did not pay much attention but quickly noticed it would follow me wherever I would go--no matter where I went, the sparrow was right by my side---AWESOME!!!! I thought---It was like God above had reached right down to the very depths of my soul and brought this new found friend to me...As the days slowly went by--we became the best of friends--we did everything together--he was waiting right where I left him the night before--I would watch him soar in the treetops and zoom to the ground--I was so lucky to call him my friend---well, then it happened, I could not find my friend anywhere--I looked in all of our favorite hiding places but he was not there:( I could not sleep that night and I lay awake but soon realized that it would be ok...I would have those tear stained memories of my sparrow to carry with me all the days of my life--if I was ever cold or lonely, or lost, or just needed a friend--I could think of my sparrow and make things better---God wrapped his arms around me and comforted me--he casually reminded me that he had kept his promise and that my sparrow was now with him--then I asked God " How could you really know how I feel to loose something I love so much"? Without hesitation God replied--" Well Bobby, it was not so long ago that I had my heart ripped out when I too had a child taken away when I sent my only son to die for your sins and look what good it did today in Colorado". I am not sure but I thought I heard him wimpering a cry and wiping away his own tears................... I hope you will take the time to hug your kids and loved ones today--tell them you love them and Thank God above that this terrible tragedy has not happened to any of us...
