    1. Re: Chapman
    2. Reply to Sharon - I have the following on Richard Chapman: he was he second son of Isaac and Sarah (Cole) Chapman, born in Culpeper County, Va. ca. 1742. He married in Culpeper County to Margaret Abbott, a daughter of Richard Abbott and sister of Sallie Abbott, John Chapman's wife. (John Chapman was Richard's brother). They went to Montgomery County, Virginia in 1771, with John Chapman and Moredock O. McKensey and settled near John, at the mouth of Walker's Crrek, living there until some years after the Indian massacre which nearly wiped out McKensey's family on Wolf Creek. They moved to Wolf Creek and lived there for the rest of their lives. Jemima Chapman, sister of John and Richard was married to Moredock O. McKensey. I do not have death date. Hope the above helps. Regards, Jim Burcham

    2. J. Tracy Walker, III
    3. There are at least two Walker families mentioned in the Giles History books. I have an extensive file on the George H. Walker family. During the War for Southern Rights, George H., son of John H Walker, and grandson of William Walker (1725-1810) migrated to Eggleston in Giles from Craigs Creek in Craig Co., VA. George had a son, John Floyd Walker who was in Pickett's Division. After the war, he made his home at Eggleston and had a large family. John Floyd had a brother, George Thomas Walker, a doctor and first mayor of Vinton, VA. If you will send me your Walker name(s) (and associated dates), I will see if they he(they) are descendants of William Walker (1725-1810). J. 1. Re: WISE
    2. Dear Susan: I don't know about the Wise family in Giles Co. but my husbands family has a long history of Wise's in fact his middle name is Wise. All of the boys in his family had the middle name of Wise and no one knew why until I started doing research on his family and found his great grandmother and that explained it. Her name was Sarah Jane Wise, she was born in 1827 in Georgia, her fathers name was Josiah Wise and he was from Georgia. My husband's grandfather had died when his father was only sixteen years old and no one could remember anything about her. There is a Hugh Wise in Georgia on the 1830, 40, and 50 census. In my records I don't see a Harvey or Hugh. Sorry. Bobby.

    3. Although I have Clarks written up in the history books and records of Montgomery, Giles, and Monroe County West Virginia, they are not of this region. The captive girls Elizabeth and Margaret McKinzie of this region lived among the Indians for approximately 17 years before their father Moredock McKenzie found them. My ancestor Elizabeth had a common law marriage with an fur trader who was part Indian by the name of William Clark. Two of three of these Clark children returned to this region of Virginia with their mother and Grandfather McKenzie. One child, Andrew, stayed with Clark the fur trader and died during an Indian battle. Elizabeth remarried in Montgomery Co VA in 1801 using her maiden name McKenzie, but her two children used the last name Clark. John Kinzie Clark the son is written up in history of this region. The middle name Kinzie is for his common law uncle, in union with his aunt Margaret. The daughter Sarah (Sally Clark) married my ancestor William Eaheart in Giles Co. VA 2 April 1816.
