Cara, Oh, bless you! I love tidbits and I'm game for anything. Please, please tell me what you have found. Are you working on this CARR line for my benefit or do you have a connection to it? Can't wait to hear from you again. Pam

I'm working on your Carr's, I might have a tidbit...but it might not be something you want in your family... Cara
Sandy, Thanks for your reply. As for getting back to the late 1600's or early 1700's with my CARR line, I can always dream. [G] But, you will be the first to know if I do and can connect with your CARR line. Thanks again, Pam
Does anyone have access to the 1820 and 1830 Giles County census records? I am looking for information regarding my ggg grandmother, Mary CARR, b. ca. 1804. I have found her in the 1840 and 1850 Giles Co., VA census records. I don't know if CARR is her maiden name OR her married name. I have nothing further on her and I have been unable to connect her with the other CARR/KERR KARR family in Giles Co. I would like to locate this family in the 1820 or 1830 census. I would be interested in knowing of any CARR/KERR/ KARR families in the 1820 and 1830 census. In the 1840, Mary CARR is listed as the Head of the Family in the Western District of Giles Co. (she lived in the part of Giles that became Bland Co.). The census profile is as follows: Males: Under 5: 1; 10-15: 1; 15-20: 1 Females: 5-10: 2; 10-15: 1; 15-20: 1; 30-40: 1 In the 1850 Giles Co. census, she is listed in the 26th District as Mary COX. The census records reads as follows: Dwelling 700 Family 693: Mary Cox, 46, F; Jane, 28, F; Elizabeth, 23, F; Sarah 18, F; Matilda, 15, F Next door is William Cox, 24, and his family. He may be Mary's son who is in the 10-15 age category in the 1840 census record. In the 1830 census, the family could be listed a CARR, KERR or KARR and could have at the following profile (there could be add'l persons): Males: Under 5: 1; 5-10: 1; Females: Under 5: 1; 5-10: 1; 20-30:1 If Mary was the widow of a man who died after 1830, then he would be listed as the Head of Household and his age could be in the Males 20-30 or 30-40 range. Any assistance with the "Brick Wall" would be most appreciated. Thanks for your help. Pam Kerschner

Brenda, Do you know about GenForum? They have a GARNES Forum there. There are only three messages posted at the moment, but why not give that a try. To Pam and Cara, Thank you so very much for this wonderful info. This Lord's day the angel's were smiling on me. Your info is a blessing! The Daniel and Deliah listed are my Martha's grandparent's. Never knew till now where they came from or were at. Also the Joseph found has to be the grandfather of Frank. The dates and ages would fit. Again never knew where they came from. May I ask another question? Any suggestion's where to search other than Giles and Montgomery Co's? And any other sources beside census records? Again...a heartfelt thank you. I am descended from the same Sublett family. My great-grandmother was Matilda Sublett who married my great grandfather James Witten Fletcher. You can see my Sublett information at my website: http://members.aol.com/mikefva3/family-index.html
Matthew W. SUBLETT aka SOBLET and variations m. 18 February 1803 in Campbell Co., VA. Frances KEY daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth ______ KEY. They are listed in the 1840 census of the county. By 1850 they are residents of Giles Co., VA. Matthew age 70 and Frances age 65. In the 1860 census still in Giles Co. (age 78 and 73) residing with son Allen W. SUBLETT. Allen dies during the succeeding decade, leaving no will. Are there others on the list researching the same SUBLETT / KEY family? Janice Buchanan Elk Grove, Sacramento, CA.
Brenda, I have the entire 1850 VA census record CD's and I tried real hard to find your Adam Franklin Garnes with no luck. Sorry. I also looked for Brillhart. I found in Montgomery Co., VA a Daniel Brillhart, 28; his wife Deli.ah, 20; John S. 4; and Adaline, 2. Don't know if this family is the family of Martha Brilhart, but because of the proximity to Giles Co, I thought it might be keeping in mind. Good luck to you, Pam Kerschner
Hi, Haven't heard from anyone on the list and I greatly need your help. Looking for any info concerning my g-grandfather, Frank Garnes b abt 1847. Frank's full name probably was Adam Franklin. My mother and her family only knew him as Frank. He married a Martha Brillhart in 1883 Kan Co. WV but I know he wasn't born there. Frank and Martha both came from somewhere in VA. Family history says Giles but I can't be sure. Please...would anyone who have's Giles Co. Census's, do a search for me? Thank you very much, Brenda Jo
Kitty, Could you do a look-up for me one the Mongomery Co. census? Phyllis
Brenda, I checked the 1850,1860,1870 census for Giles Co. And sorry to say there wasn't a family of Garnes at all. I also checked the 1850 census for Montgomery Co. Since Giles was taken from Mont.Co.And again no Garnes. I wish you luck, Kitty
