    2. JoAnne, Couldn't find anything on Eli or Mary. Here are the Hudsons that are listed: Arnold Arthur Chapman Creed Creed P. Crete Daniel Ellis Emily George Gladys l Isaac Jacob James James D Jean Jennie K. John John Easley Joseph Juanita Lizzie Lizzie E. Lulu Madison Mary(14 years old on the 1870 census) Nancy Paschal Patrick Roland Susan William Willie Wm Wm M I would suggest that you go to the library there and look at the copies that they have. I also heard they have some for sale there. The Giles Research Group have both Volumes for sale, but I only have a mailing address for them. I have read on the mail list that the Historical Society there has a lot of information and are very helpful, but I am sorry I do not have their address. Maybe someone else on the list might have it. Sorry I got your hopes up and then wasn't able to find any information. Good luck in your search. Phyllis

    2. Oh my gosh - I just lost my breath!!! I am desperately trying to find some info on my grandparents, Eli C. Hudson and Mary Matilda (Hawkins) Hudson (he was born in 1882 and she in 1884) - I have some info on him but ABSOLUTELY nothing on her - it is as if she never existed. I've heard she was born in Sparta, NC - but perhaps also in/around Galax, VA. If I could just find something on her parents/siblings, I would be so happy. There is a rumor that her father's name was Jeff Hawkins, and also that she was related somehow to Davey Crockett. I still have an uncle that lives in Rich Creek and I love it there. We'll be going to Beckley, WV next week and I hope to check some records. We'll only be about an hour away from Rich Creek - do you know if the books are still for sale somewhere? Thank you so much - JoAnne

    3. Thanks so much, but I've already checked that source. Please take a look at the section in the Giles History Vol. 1, which lists the children of Thomas Lucas and Hannah Hale Lucas, there are only 3 children listed. If you visit the LDS Ancestral File site, and look at the family of Thomas and Hannah Hale Lucas, there are 12 children listed for the family. Something is amiss! I appreciate you posting the information you found. Part of the problem is that there were at least 3 William Lucas's that lived in the area of Giles County, and Montgomery County Virginia at the same time, and it is hard to keep them all straight in the records. I do not have any hard feelings against the authors of the Giles County History, nor against the people submitting the information to the Ancestral File. Everyone is entitled to a few mistakes! I just want to find enough documents so that I can submit a correction to the Ancestral File. A Lucas correspondent recently sent me a copy of an old family chart, which measures about 18 inches by 24 inches. On the bottom of the chart it says "Compiled by Chas. Deforest Lucas copied by Rod Lucas." The old chart answered a lot of my questions, but not all of them! The chart only lists the descendants of Captain John Lucas, and the other branches of the Lucas family are not listed. So, the chart DID list "my" William Lucas, with the correct parents, and the correct wife! Now, if I can just learn some more about the other William Lucas. (supposedly born 1803, in Montgomery County, Virginia, the son of Thomas Lucas and Hannah Hale.) Thanks for pitching in with your information to try and help me out. 3. Wanda, Thanks so much for typing up the information from INCREASE IN PRICES. I would like to re-state my plea to be contacted by any descendants of Thomas Lucas and Hannah Hale Lucas who might be able to help me out. If you notice in the information found in the INCREASE IN PRICES Thomas and Hannah Hale Lucas are listed as being the parents of 10 children. In the LDS Ancestral File Records, Thomas Lucas and Hannah Hale Lucas are listed as being the parents of 12 children. Among the children that are listed for this couple in the Ancestral File is a son, William Lucas. Can anyone who has done research on this family please tell me if you have found any documents which would indicate that Thomas Lucas and Hannah Hale Lucas had a son named William? 2. First off the book I got info from is as follows: INCREASE IN PRICES, Some Descendants of David and Agnes (Hoffman) Price of 17th Century Germany, compiled by Anne Hayden(Price) Yates and W. Conweay Price, Ph.D. The address is Ms. Anne Yates, P.O. Box 2047, Ridgecrest, CA 93556. Price is $39.00. Here is what I found on the Hales that were asked about. John Michael Price baptized in Roman Catholic Church in Offenbach, Germany 10-9-1718 and died Montgomery Co., between July and October 1802. His wife was named Margaretha Killian born 1721 Rheinland, Pfaltz, Germany d/o Andreas Killian who immigrated to Philadelphia 23 Sept 1732.
