He sold 1115 acres to Nathaniel B Triplett and William Elliott for $1 and acre. Josiah married the the daughter of Nathaniel B and Elizabeth (Smith) Triplett. Her name is Elizabeth C. Triplett (locally called Eliza this may be why there is come confusion between an Elizabeth and an Eliza) and married on Feb. 15, 1848. Elizabeth was born 3/29/1803 and died 1846. Edwin S Triplett brother of Elizabeth bought in partnership with his half brother John K. Triplett 175 acres from Josiah Lockhart in 1840. And a Robert Volney Lockhart born 1809 in Adams County Ohio, son of Josiah Lockhart and his first wife Nancy O'Dell. Josiah Lockhart was a general in the war of 1812. Major Robert Lockhart was shot to death by Union soldiers August 23rd 1863 in his own bed. His son Zachary died the next day of a snake bite from a rattle snake. They were buried beside one another. General Josiah Lockhart was the first postmaster of Back Creek Valley. The post office was established Feb. 1, 1821. John O'Dell Lockhart son of Josiah took over as post master on 6/10/1837 until his brother Samuel Socrates Lockhart was appointed May 24, 1845. Robert Volney Lockhart was in charge on 7/21/1845. Hope this info helps and gives you some leads. Debbie
