I don't know if this could be my John Gray who married in 1789 as he appears in the 1790 census being over age 16 with 2 males under age 16 and 4 females. It is a possibility though I guess. The name William Hiett certainly is of interest since he bought land in 1849 from my Grays but the names that appear on the land sale in Greene Co. are William and Washington Gray with Nancy widow of John. (Also Williams wife Mary) These folks signed their names with a mark (x) which leads me to doubt any member of their family would be a doctor or minister as some of the Grays at that time appear to be in that area. I wonder if anyone has a way to look up the sale of the land of Nancy Gray and Heirs to William Hiett dated May 18, 1849 in Greene Co courthouse Pennsylvania. It must be registered or filed in the Frederick co. courthouse as well. Does anyone have access to a index or book with that kind of info without going to too much trouble?
