    3. Hello: Just to add a note to the information offered in a previous reply, Mount Williams is/was located near Pennington's (historically Taylor's) Furnace. The furnace is shown on another useful and highly annotated map produced jointly by the Handle Regional Library and the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society in 1974 ("Frederick COunty ~ City of Winchester, Commonwealth of Virginia; Surveyed and drawn by Eugene M. Scheel for the Farmers and Merchants National Bank, 1974, repinted 1992, 2002.") [I purchased a copy of this large map just recently from the Handley Library Archives, for all of $5.00 http://www.hrl.lib.state.va.us/ ] Located on the east face of Little North Mountain, at the intersection of Old Route 612 and Ruote 608 (Wardensville Pike), Mount Williams is shown as having had a population in 1974 of 20, and is shown as having once had its own post office. Taylor's Furnace is shown about 1.5 miles west, along Furnace Run on Rte. 600 (Back Mountain Road), just south of the intersection with Mt. Williams Road (looks like a spur of Rte. 612.) Very near Taylor's Furnace is Zane's Furnace, the Bean Graveyard, and Bean Mill, and St. John's Church and Graveyard. Though the area is quite rural, drawing a circle even two miles out from Mount Williams, there are a few further small graveyards shown. Good luck R. W.
