Surnames: HUDSON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gAC.2ACE/2712 Message Board Post: I see on the old census reports that my HUDSON family (James A & Alcinda Hudson and later their son Meredith O. and his wife Carrie B. Hudson) resided in OPEQUON in Frederick County, VA . By 1900 the census reports they lived in OPEQUON/CANTERBURY. The family remained in this location through the 1930 census I am unable to find either of these places on the map. Could someone please tell me the present day names of these towns. Thank you!

Opequon (also formerly know as Frog Eye) at least is very much around still, an historic crossroads with a handful of very fine and old buildings, roughly central in Frederick County, located about 2.5 miles southwest of Winchester, Va. along the Cedar Creek Grade (Rt. 622, formerly Cartmell Road.) As for Canterbury, I'm not sure. There is a Canterburg, or a cluster of associated place names, but in the southeast corner of Frederick County ( roughly 2 miles east of Middletown and two miles south of Stephens City.) R.
