William was son of James BARTLETT c1770-1828; 1m 1788 Jefferson Co, KY Charlotte ASHBY; he 2m 1790 Jefferson Co, KY Rachel PIERCE; he 3m 1821 Shelby Co, KY Catherine RANKIN - they had 11 children James BARTLETT was son of William BARTLETT 1735-1777 who was born in Spotsylvania Co, VA and moved to Frederick/Berkeley Co, VA c 1770, and was in RevWar from there. William's five youngest children went to Jefferson Co, KY with their mother (nee Mary CRANE); the oldest son Henry BARTLETT stayed and lived in Frederick Co, VA until 1830s The above BARTLETT family has roots in Spotsylvania Co, VA and is different from the Sanford BARTLETT line for which I am still looking for descendants (he was from Harrison Co, VA). In fact there was a third BARTLETT family around the early 1800s in Frederick Co, VA area - that of Garner BARTLETT whose ancestors were BERKLEYs in Loudoun Co, VA (and Westmoreland Co, VA before that).
