My great-grandfather was from Frederick Co Va and ran away from the south during the Civil war. He came to Indiana and changed his name to Smith. I know where he is burried in Indiana but not sure if he is the George W Jolley I find records of in Va. George W is listed in the 1860 census of Frederick Co Va District 5 . His Father is Alfred, mother Charlotte, brothers John E, Joseph, Robert , Charles E, and Sisters Abbe E Nester A(?) and Mary J. No one in the family, that I know of, has heard of the brothers and sisters, so don't know if he severed all ties to his family or if the person I knew as my g-grandfather is the same person.
There were Jolly's in Trinidad Co. in early 1800 to much later and descendant still are but may have a name of some other than Jolly. One mar to a Wilton, one of my spouse's Great Gtr.
