Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.frederick/5884/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would really like to make a connection to a Bryan McDonald researcher who wouldn't mind sharing some information about descendants in terms of what is known to be true and what is accepted. I am trying to locate Magnus McDonald and some people list him as a son of James (from Bryan) and others as a son of Randal. I haven't been able to locate a will that lists him as a son of anyone. I find a will of a James McD that does not list Magnus as a son. My hunch is that Magnus may not be from this family, and that putting him there may go back to a mistake made a long time ago. To make matters worse, there's a lot of evidence for two Magnuses - one from VA, one from NC. Am also looking to see how Clayborn McDonald (b. 1799) fits into this. I am descended from a James McDonald, also of unknown descent. I am related to Clayborn and believe I could be related to Magnus, but that's not yet known. Anyone willing to share and figure this all out? I'm not interested in what's been pulled from LDS websites or from published or online genealogies unless there is documentation of proof, as there are just too many errors in what I've seen so far.
