Chocy, I've seen it spelled Brew/Brue/Brwe/Brewe. Have not considered Bruhl. There are a lot of Brew names in Ireland, especially a lot in Clare County. There is a Brew One Name Study website with a lot of information but can't find anything relating to my family in early Virginia. They claim origins from the Isle of Man. According to the 1880 census, Henry Brew, Jr. said his father was born in Ireland, but don't really have any proof of this. I don't believe Brewer or Brewster are related to this Brew surname. There was only one BREW on the 1810 and 1820 census in Rockingham County, VA and that was Henry BREW Sr. Would like to find out where he came from when he went to Virginia, and, of course, where he immigrated from.
