I apologize for not providing a time frame for the search. The information that you provided was very helpful and matched the Stipes that I was searching for. Yesterday I found some additional information on the Stipes which tied in very nicely with your information, but also left a couple additional questions. I found that John H. Stipe moved from the Brucetown area of Frederick County, Virginia to near Rippon in Jefferson County, West Virginia in July of 1893. I also found that John's son, Hugh Randolph Stipe was born on September 11, 1870, at Brucetown, VA; and died on October 07, 1948 at Clearbrook, VA. He married the former Miss Anna Best, daughter of Dr. William J. Best on September 29, 1896. Anna Best Stipe was born on October 23, 1872 and died on October 08, 1903. At the time of her death they had one child, a son. Hugh R. and Anna Best Stipe child's name was Hugh Randolph Stipe, Jr. He was born on December 10, 1902 and died in April of 1974. Hugh Randolph Stipe, Jr. married Frances Grant. Frances Grant Stipe was born on June16, 1907 and died in December of 1994. I don't know Francis' parent's names or if Hugh and Francis Stipe had any children. It would appear that Hugh Randolph Stipe's marriage to Anna Best was his third marriage. His first marriage was to Beatrice Carter and his second marriage was to Nellie S. ________. Wasn't able to locate the parents of his first two wives, nor the maiden name of the second wife. I think Beatrice Carter may have been an older sister to a William Glenn Carter. He lived very near Brucetown near the turn of the 20th century. I found that he was married to an Edith Speck. Edith appears to have born about 1901 and William Glenn was born about 1902. I would like to find additinal information William and Edith Carter. During my research yesterday I found another Stipe connected with Brucetown c1915, his name was Harry Stipe. At first I thought Harry might have been a nick-name for Hugh. Harry Stipe may have been a rural mail carrier c1912. It would appear from local newspaper accounts that Harry Stipe and his wife had their fourth child, a daughter born in 1915. The newborn's name was not given, nor was the mother's. In all article from that period Harry's wife is referred to as Mrs. Harry Stipe. It would also appear that all of their children at that point in time were girls. The names of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stipe's children were given as Margaret, Francis and Elizabeth. The girls names came from various Winchester newspaper items. If you could find any information that may fill in any of the blanks in the above information I would very much appricate it. Thank you once again for your generous assistance. Jerry Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
