Surnames: Richards-Lee Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gAC.2ACE/3085.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks Dee Ann, for the info on John and Alice Richards Lee. Somewhere we have heard that Alice Lee was buried in Burlington, NJ-so you may be right about them having been back there-I am continually checking out that area, besides trying to find more info in Frederick Co. I believe John and Alice Richards Lee came from Harpford, Devon, England to Burlington Co., NJ and then onto Frederick Co., and were involved in the estate settlement of a John Richards, brother to Alice's father, Peter Richards. He left land etc., to Peter's children who would come to Frederick Co., VA to settle the estate. Would he be the John D. Richards you are looking for. It seems to me that he may have died around 1747--I don't have that info available right now-but could he be your connection to the Richards?? Let me know and I will check for that particular info for you. Thanks again for answering my posting and hopefully you will keep me in mind if you run across anything to help me, and I will do the same on your John D. Richards. Dee

Richards to either the Richards families living in Frederick or Fauquier Co. VA. These are two different groups of people. Until I figure out my own Richards Family, I will not be seeking out documents on the Frederick Co. VA group. I see in Frederick Co. VA Land Deeds Book 20, Alice Lee the wife of John Lee of Burlington Co. NJ releases her rights to property sold in Frederick Co. VA. So if they left estate records I would check NJ. They sold this land to her brother Henry Richards. To confuse matters there were other Lee families living in Frederick Co. VA. I can't say they belonged to your group. I would check Burlington Co. NJ first. If I run across more about this group of Richards I will post message here.

FARMER of Lancaster Co. PA. That property lying on Thompson's Creek, Frederick Co. VA. So PA might be the direction your Farmer came from into VA. That's the same location my Jacob Sowers came into VA, but it will be years before I start to do detailed work with PA records. Good luck with your research.

    3. I think I know that John was born in 1806 in Frederick County He married Lucy A Bosteyon/Boston 8//10/1835. They had a daughter Julia Ann born in 1836. In the 1840 census he is alone with a child. By 1870 he is living with another family in Loudoun County Southern District and and his occupation is a farmer. I am interested in his parents and siblings. He is one of my g-great-grandfathers. There seems to be a number of people in Loudoun County with this surname and they may be related. John

    1. [VAFREDER] Edward Wilson, son of John and __(possibly Eleanor VanMetre) Wilson of Frederick Co., VA - Transcription of his Will
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Wilson, Enlow, Sampson, Bathe(Beathe) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/gAC.2ACE/3089 Message Board Post: I thought that an transcript of the will of Edward Wilson (formerly of Frederick/Berkeley Co., VA) might be of interest to some so I am posting it here. Edward Wilson was born ca 1738, probably in Frederick/Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia), the son of JOHN WILSON and his first wife, name currently unknown, although some believe her to have been Eleanor Van Metre. Edward moved to Bourbon County (later Clark County) Kentucky where he lived in Strode's Station. He was an early Virginia surveyor. I have many records if anyone is interested. Towards the end of his life, he moved to Indiana Territory (now Knox County - Vincennes). From there he moved across the Indiana/Illinois border to Edwards County, Illinois Territory where he died in 1815. Below is an excerpt of his will that I found about a year ago quite by by accident in a history of Edwards County. Edward Wilson’s will was written on 14 Sept 1815 in Edwards County, Illinois Territory (History of Edwards, Lawrence and Wabash Counties, Illinois, Chapter 8, p 95, published 183 by J. L. McDonough & Co.). The will states “EDWARD WILSON of Edwards County, Illinois Territory, being weak in body, but of sound mind, do make and publish my last will and testament to wit: that I bequeath, after my body be decently buried, to my daughter SUSANNA BATHE, wife of GEORGE BATHE, 5 shillings; also my daughter MARY ENLOW, wife of JAMES ENLOW; to my son JOHN WILSON; to my daughter ELENOR ENLOW, wife of JESSE ENLOW; to my son JOSEPH WILSON; also my son ISAAC WILSON; also my son JAMES WILSON, the sum of 5 shillings each. I give and bequeath to my grandson EDWARD WILSON 1 cow and 3 sows; that I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter CHRISTIANA WILSON, two cows on the following conditions; that the said JOHN WILSON {need to see original will to see if this is correct name) and the said CHRISTIANA WILSON continue to live with WILLIAM SAMPSON or JERRY WILSON, obeying all reasonable commands until they are of age. I further bequeath that the remainder of my estate be equally divided b! etween my daughter JANE SAMPSON, wife of WILLIAM SAMPSON, and my son JEREMIAH WILSON. And I here nominate and appoint HENRY ENLOW of Bourbon Co., KY, executor of my last will and testament, etc, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 14th Sept A.D. 1815. Wit: Sm Shaw, E. N. Collum, Andrew Montgomery.” I hope this helps someone with their research.

The branch of the Carson family I know any thing about would be the family of a Simon & Martha Carson their children: Elisha W., Jane Reddice (married second to Robert S. MCKAY, they did not have children), Jared Wm. (his daughter also married into the same McKay family), Ann S., James Henry, Simon, John, Wm. & Robert R. Carson I have not really tried to find out the names of the children of the other children of said Simon. I do not know the connection between the two men. The above Simon was born c1769 in VA died about 1856 in Frederick Co. VA The only reason I have this family in my PAF program is the connection with the Mckay family. As I am going through compliing & abtracting information from Frederick Co. VA land deeds, I will know there was a connection between Carson & McKay. I will only being posting information on my cousin Michael L. McKay "Robert Mackay Family" web page. www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/8030 Under "Discussion Forum" I am also looking at Frederick Co. VA Chancery Causes, I post on his "Discussion Forum" the films I have ordered. It is up to people to ask if they want me to look for information. They will only get one chance to ask for the information, for I am not abtracting the information. These files might have a lot of information, but on the other hand some just have little information in the files. All pot luck. Check State of VA Library www.lva.lib.va.us They have only indexed the cases for Frederick, but for Fauquier Co. VA you can scan to your home computer the actual files. If you look at any case it will give you some idea of the kind of information enclosed. Good luck with your research.

    3. Does anyone have information about the Samuel Littler family who might have lived in Frederick Co., or Old Frederick Co., VA. I have some notes that Samuel married Ann Nancy Williams Oct 18, 1792 in Frederick Co., VA. Ann Nancy was the daughter of Elizabeth Correll and Barnett Williams who died 1795 Frederick Co., VA. Samuel was the son of Nathan Littler and Rebecca Wilson. Nathan died 1813 near Winchester, Frederick Co., VA. I'm particularly interested in the children of Samuel and Ann Nancy. I have two possible daughters for Samuel and Ann Nancy, Rebecca who married Francis Stribling and Rachel who married his brother Thomas Stribling. Francis and Rebecca might have married Jun 17, 1823 Kenilworth, Frederick Co., VA. while Thomas and Rachel married Jun 17, 1823, Winchester, Frederick Co., VA. It seems to me if both married on the same day, they would have married at the same location. And I can't locate a Kenilworth, Frederick Co., VA. Thanks. Patricia Max
