Gary, This is one of the lines our little research group is tracing. We have some information on later lines but haven't been able to prove where William Harrell who died in Wythe co. 1822 came from. Our DNA tests prove that Reuben Harrell of Shenandoah Co. is of the same line as William of Wythe co.. so we can only assume William came from Northern Va. also.. We are also dealing with a Jacob Harrell who is said to have been in Campbell co., Va. before 1800 and moved to Ky and from there to Alabama about 1820. The DNA from his descendants also match that of William of Wythe co., Va.. Thanks for the Website address! More Later, G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.

I have some info on the Harrells who went to Wythe County - you can view it at (look in the index): http://www.geocities.com/watsgw1155/davis2/index.htm If, by chance, you have any additional info on these Harrells, I would very much like to add it to the record. Hope you and the family are doing well. I received this information from Barbara on John Montgomery which states he was born in Jefferson County, Virginia at the ancestoral home of Washington build by Charles Washington. Is there any supporting documentation on this? Might be helpful to track down his parents. "JOHN MONTGOMERY MACFARLAND John M. Macfarland, was born January 14, 1856 (and is now 83 years old), in Jefferson County, Virginia, now West Virginia, at the ancestoral home of Washington in the house built by Charles Washington. For three generations prior to the birth of the subject of this sketch all the Macfarlands were born and raised in the same county. John M. got his early education like the other boys at what was known as the subscription schools and afterwards at the free school. He attended the Military Academy of Virginia and Princeton College and the University of Virginia where he graduated specializing in constitutional and international law and received the highest grade given to any student in the school. Regardless of his graduation in the law department of the University it was necessary for him to take an examination which, was successful, and he was admitted to practice in all the courts of West Viriginia. In 1878, soon after his marriage, he got the western fever and moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he opened a law office after being admitted to the supreme court in Nebraska on Jan. 10, 1879. In May 1879 he moved to Columbus, where he practiced law until Nov. 1889 when he was elected Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias and moved back to Omaha, where he formed a co-partnership with a Mr. Saunders and the firm became known as Saunders and Macfarland, where he practiced law for 40 years. Then he went to California and from there back to New York City, where he now resides. Mr. Macfarland, was one of the most energetic lawyers we ever had at the bar and he was a money 50. b. maker and nobody enjoyed spending it more than he did. In fact, he was a good scout. It is said that he made more money in the two or three years after the machine companies commenced selling their machinery in this county and elsewhere around, than all of the other lawyers combined. He was a sort of a general attorney for several manufacturing companies and had an immense commercial business. It was a period when hand tools were disappearing for manufactured machinery and the farmers took the new machinery very readily and the agents were of the highest class of sellers, so that Mac had plenty of business. He was one of the smoothest politicians we ever had in the city. He was elected as Mayor for one term and was an official in nearly all of the enterprises of the city. While Mayor of the city he took great pride in trying to improve the city park now located in the heart of the city and it was through his influence largely, that most of the trees were planted and the old fence, that used to be around the park, was removed. He was one of the best dressers of the bar. He was a good business getter and a very smooth attorney and was often selected by the older attorneys on account of his acquaintance and influence with the jury. He was local attorney for several years of the U.P.R.R.Co. and was elected State Senator from Douglas County and he ran for Lieutenant Governor and also for Supreme Judge, but was defeated. 51." I have traced back to Thomas Truxton and then back to the Scottish royalty in the Bruce Clan going back to the Kings of Finland. Does anyone on this list have any information about the Walton line in Frederick Co. Supposedly a Moses Walton died Mar 7, 1764 in Frederick Co. He married Mary Alice Cordy and they had at least 3 children, John b 1735, Moses born abt 1740 in Frederick Co., and Mary born abt 1745 in Frederick Co. I'm trying to trace any children of John who married Eleanor Unknown. I have only Moses born about 1760 in VA. He might have married Nancy Unknown before 1780 and had a child Elizabeth about 1780. Thanks. Patricia Max

Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 81 families in Virginia that have not been located. There is one family from Fredrick County that has not been located. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. Also looking for information on a Michael Richard or Carey M. Richard who married an Elizabeth Snapp......would like to know more about Carey or he may have used his middle name Michael. They were both born in the middle 1700's. They had a son named Henry who married Elizabeth Snapp.....in Frederick county, Virginia in 1802.......then they removed to Belmont county, Ohio, what I am wanting is to find more info on Henry's parents. jamie ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. David Grapes (1770 - 1826) is the son of John Henry (Jacob) Grapes (Krebs) (1 Feb 1730 - 13 Aug 1794) and Sarah Fedele (1735 - 1791). David would have an older sister Catherine Grapes (1761 - 1840). Catherine was also known as "katy" and was married twice. Her first husband was George Price, and her second husband was Michael Printz. Catherine emigrated to Ohio with Michael and died in Muskingum County, Oh. Assuming that I have pieced it together correctly, the pedigree would be as follows: David, son of John Henry and Sarah Fedele. John Henry, son of Simon Krebs and Anna Elizabeth Yost. Simon Krebs, son of Michael Krebs and Margaret Barbara. Michael, son of Jeremias Krebs and Maria Eva. Michael was born in 1677 in Pappenheim, Mittelfranken, Mayern, Germany and died in 1745 in New Hanover, Philadelphia, Pa. This would mean that Michael was the one who immigrated to the US. I have not yet posted this to my family tree because I am still looking for more confirmation. If anyone has anything to add to this, or can confirm or disprove my theory, please let me know.
