I've "rescued" a group of photographs and funeral cards belonging to the BARROW Family of Virginia. The first photograph is one of Mollie BARROW which was taken at the C. Fred Barr Studio in Winchester, VA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Mollie likely in her 20's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as Emma BARROW GUARD and was also taken at the same C. Fred Barr Studio in Winchester, VA likely also in the 1880's with Emma appearing to be in her 20's as well. On the back of Emma's photograph is written: B. July 3 1861 D. Jan 15 1838 Daughter of Atwell BARROW She and uncle George BARROW b. 1830 d. 1909 visit relatives in IL Along with the photographs were two funeral cards which I believe belong to their parents. The first is one for Mary J. BARROW died April 16, 1897 at the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 7 days. The second card is for Atwell BARROW died Dec 15 1896 aged 69 years and 11 months. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Atwell BARROW b. 15 Jan 1827 in Frederick Co., VA to parents William BARROW and Catherine MISSIMER or MESMER or MESMORE, Atwell married Mary Jane SMITH on 5 May 1853 in VA, and he died 15 Dec 1896 in Reliance, VA. His brother George Washington BARROW was born 26 Mar 1830 in Frederick Co., VA and died 3 Aug 1909 in Illinois. Atwell and Mary Jane's daughter Emma J. BARROW was b. 1862 in Frederick Co., VA.
