I'm researching Peter and Amelia Lauck's lines not as a descendant, but as curator of the DAR Museum's quilt collection. We have two quilts made by Amelia for two of her children. Can you contact me offline? I'm trying to trace family portraits (a series done by Jacob Frymire and Charles Peale Polk) and would be interested to know about any done of Simon's family. Hi Listers, I am trying to determine if the surname HOCKMAN and HICKMAN in the Shenanadoah Valley area are both names from the German family of HECKMAN. I have found the spelling HOCKMAN in Shenandoah County and I have found both HOCKMAN and HICKMAN spellings in Frederick County; however, there were fewer HICKMAN spellings than HOCKMAN. Are these two families connected at the root or are they totally different families?-----------Oh, hum---------------------Any help would be greatly appreciated. Who is Richard Pearis that owes money? Heirs are sons Andrew, Lewis Jr, John, Thomas, James, David; daus Rebecca, Catherine (Johamiah?), Mary. No wife listed. Brother John named, so apparently Richard is not immediate family of Lewis. Lease and Release land records, in Frederick Co, VA, involve Lewis Pearce Sr, Lewis Pearce Jr and Richard Pearis. Estate inventory includes currency of PA and currency of West New Jersey. Was Lewis from NJ? Inventory shows Lewis owns land in Frederick Co, MD, too. Several "cousins" and I are working on this line and I will be going to Salt Lake City in a few months. Would like any new clues to use in research. Glad to share information. Our James Pierce (b 1748 Rev War Sold)is in that same area, same time period, is he the son named James? James goes on down into Greene Co, TN. Early land records show only 2 named Pearce -- our James and a Thomas. They are on at least 3 records together. Are they brothers? Are they sons named in will of Lewis? Pierce DNA site shows our James Pierce has almost exact matching markers to a Thomas Pierce. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I need to rule her out of my research -- can anyone spot a marriage for a Sarah/Sally Carlile/Carlisle/Carlyle in Winchester, or in Frederick co, or any surrounding county, between 1860 and 1870? Her father is Alexander. Thanks. Cheryl -- There should be no attachments on this message, unless I specifically mentioned them above.
