William's five youngest children went to Jefferson Co, KY with their mother (nee Mary CRANE); the oldest son Henry BARTLETT stayed and lived in Frederick Co, VA until 1830s The above BARTLETT family has roots in Spotsylvania Co, VA and is different from the Sanford BARTLETT line for which I am still looking for descendants (he was from Harrison Co, VA). In fact there was a third BARTLETT family around the early 1800s in Frederick Co, VA area - that of Garner BARTLETT whose ancestors were BERKLEYs in Loudoun Co, VA (and Westmoreland Co, VA before that). My BARTLETT line is from Harrison Co, (W)VA; and I have a number of ties to HARBERTs there. Jim Bartlett [email protected]

    3. I saw the posts on Henry Printz & Elizabeth Barr (Widow) and then Peter Barr & Margaret Bosteyon. I believe this Peter was Elizabeths son. Info I have makes Peter Barr & Margaret my 3xgreat grandparents. I found info at the Virgina Historical Society in Richmond Va. in Apr of 2003. Peter had at least one brother, Frederick. Both are believed to have been born in Frederick Co. Va. Peter abt. 1780. Then in May of this year (2004), I found a Will at the Virginia State Library for a Peter Barr d: in Frederick Co. Va h/w Elizabeth, sons Frederick and Peter (Exr.) and dau's Mary, Polly, Caty & Sarah. The Will is dated 25 Feb. 1803. There was also a Estate Inventory dated 5 May 1803. I now believe this Peter could be my 4xgreat grandfather. It then looks like Elizabeth m: Henry Printz in 1805. Peter & Margaret then remove to Franklin Co. Oh. in 1811. Does anyone else out there have any other info about this family? russ Barr & Shaffer Lines

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/gAC.2ACE/2558.1 Message Board Post: There could be so many "Wright' families in VA - I'd check on the census around where Alpheus lived in Indiana for other surnames and look for a county in VA where those occur together to try to narrow it down. I have one possible clue - but it's probably needle in a haystack: Isabella Wright b. 1738 in Burlington NJ married Thomas Herbert/Harbert in 1758 in Monmouth Co NJ and then they moved to Loudoun/Berkeley Co area of VA in 1760's. They established Harbert Fort in Harrison Co. VA (now W VA). Isabella was the daughter of Edward Wright and Mary ?. There were a number of NJ families, mostly Baptist, who moved from NJ to VA just before the Rev. War - most in Shenandoah Valley or on the frontier. It appears that Isabella Wright had siblings named William, Ann, Increase, Mary, Edward and Abigail as baptismal records exist for these. Edward Wright bb 1712 d. 1746. He is likely related to the Robert Wright who bought land on Staten Island in 1683, and/or the Thomas, Josua and Samuel Wright who were among the early freeholders in Burlington area of NJ in 1670's 1680's etc.

I'm looking at the family of Peter Herbert b. 1744 NJ d. 1802 Berkeley Co VA - lived on 3rd Hill Mtn/waters of Sleepy Creek. Witness to his will was Joseph Stanford (aka Sanford, Sandeford, Stanford) also witness Isaac Newton, and Charles Helm administrators - Peter's wife and John Helm. Peter's dau. Joanna married John Helm Jr. William Bartlett s/o James Bartlett married Joanna's daughter Mary "Polly" in early 1800's in Shelby Co Ky and when Polly died, William married Joanna's daughter. When Peter's son Paul (borther of Joanna) moved to Shelby Co in abt. 1818-1820 - he bought property from James Bartlett. Peter Sr. also had sons John, Thomas and Peter Jr. Thomas moved to Shelby Co Ky in early 1830's. Peter Jr. to Jefferson Co OH. I don't know about John. This Peter Herbert Sr. was related to the Herbert/Harbert family of Harrison Co. VA - as they descended from NJ too - but I don'! t know how closely they were related. Any info would be helpful - including info on James Bartlett - i know he was born in VA. Also - John Helm Sr had a brother or first cousin Meredith Helm who married Frances Sanford. I believe this Meredith Helm served in Morgan's Rifles in the Rev. War. Helms were from Frederick Co.

    2. Sorry for the blank I am researching an Elizabeth MOORE b 1785, supposedly in Albemarle Co. I have NO husband OR parents for her. My info starts when she has 2 children--James M. Moore b 1819 and Caroline Yancy MOORE b 7/8/1820. Her daughter Caroline m Valentine Cackley, Jr. in 1841 in Pocahontas Co. Valentine's mother was Mary FREY, gdaughter of Benjamin FREY who migrated to the Valley around 1740. I have traced James & Caroline to the grave with NO mention of a father or grandparents. They did live in Bedford Co. for a few years but nothing surfaced there either. If you have seen anything on these names, please let me know. Thank you, Doris Snyder

Could be the same man married twice, or two different Henry Printz. The will does mention a Deed of Trust between Elizabeth & Henry disallowing each to have the property of the other. The only Peter Barr listed was a marriage to Margaret Bosteyon on 9 Sep 1802. Additional information from other wills & land deeds could sort all this out. I am posting the information from each will just as it appears, without adding other information. A research could get copies of the original marriage bond on film through State of VA or L.D.S. library.
