His marriage listed in Vogt's book. He received the entire estate, mentions lands 90a or 100a on Crooked Run, he is to pay to his siblings (not named) just $5 each. At the time of probate George MUMMA & John BROWN appeared with lawyers and contested the will. I am wondering if these men married daughters of said Christian Garmong.

I will be a little more specific -- I understand my great grandparents lived at Mt. Williams - Johnson and Anna Rebecca McDaniel Dyke and both were buried at Old Reformed Cemetery in Conicville. I first thought they were buried near Mt. William. I have not been able to find where this Old Reformed Cemetery is. I am somewhat familiar with Conicville. From a previous note I learned Johnson did show up in the 1885 Frederick Co Atlas in Back Creek Magl. District along with George Dyke. I wonder if any of these residences are still standing or if these specific areas could be identified.
Hello: Just to add a note to the information offered in a previous reply, Mount Williams is/was located near Pennington's (historically Taylor's) Furnace. The furnace is shown on another useful and highly annotated map produced jointly by the Handle Regional Library and the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society in 1974 ("Frederick COunty ~ City of Winchester, Commonwealth of Virginia; Surveyed and drawn by Eugene M. Scheel for the Farmers and Merchants National Bank, 1974, repinted 1992, 2002.") [I purchased a copy of this large map just recently from the Handley Library Archives, for all of $5.00 http://www.hrl.lib.state.va.us/ ] Located on the east face of Little North Mountain, at the intersection of Old Route 612 and Ruote 608 (Wardensville Pike), Mount Williams is shown as having had a population in 1974 of 20, and is shown as having once had its own post office. Taylor's Furnace is shown about 1.5 miles west, along Furnace Run on Rte. 600 (Back Mountain Road), just south of the intersection with Mt. Williams Road (looks like a spur of Rte. 612.) Very near Taylor's Furnace is Zane's Furnace, the Bean Graveyard, and Bean Mill, and St. John's Church and Graveyard. Though the area is quite rural, drawing a circle even two miles out from Mount Williams, there are a few further small graveyards shown. Good luck R. W. Williams is several mi. west of Winchester, on Wardensville Grade just below Fishel Rd. A county map would probably be a big help, or go to MSN's Maps and Directions. There are at least 4 cemeteries in that general area (on the USGS Hayfield 7.5 map) - Lamps Memorial Church Cemetery, Mt. Olive, Wisecarver, and St. Pauls - probably others. You can find the town and the cemeteries on the USGS's GNIS site at http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form Spell out words like Mt. (Mount) and St. (Saint) in queries. Use Topozone maps for roads and Show Feature Location for realtion to other towns, etc. Don't include the Feature Type (e.g., Cemetery) in the feature name - specify that in Feature Type, or skip Feature Type altogether.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a county map like this if you want some detail & want to try to locate specific property. I found mine at Barnes & Noble, $10.95 a few years ago. It is large - 12 x 15 or so, and has 44 pages. Sometimes a local discount store will probably have a county map as well, but this one seems to have the best detail & easiest to work with. Mine is from: ADC The Map People 6440 General Green Way Alexandria, VA 22312-2447 1-800-ADC-MAPS www.adcmap.com Frederick County ISBN # 0-87530-030-8 page 18 Mount Williams area is at the intersection of highways 608 (Wardensville Road) & 612 (Mount Williams Lane). It is in the 2900-3400 block of Hwy 608. This is west of Winchester, SW of Round Hill. Zip code (helps to locate) is 22602. I don't see a cemetery on the map in Mt. Williams - but slightly NE, in Mt. Pleasant, on Hwy 608, there are 2. They are in the 1600-2000 block area of 608, one by the church, one down (?Quail Run Lane?) called Lamps Memorial. Sometimes (usually before 1860 or so) families set aside "God's Little Acre" - and a portion of land would be set aside on the home property for family burials. Sometimes they were in a corner, adjoining another persons land, and both families used it. There is also a cemetery slightly south of Hwy 608, somewhat in the "V" of 618 & 616. I don't see "Taylor Furnace" on the map - but hopefully you can find how far apart they are. Good luck!
