Bev, sorry I don't know. But a Gideon Smith had died prior to Aug. 29, 1788, the evidence being return & recording of Inventory & appraisement of estate of Gideon Smith, dec'd. allegedly in Franklin Co. Will Book 1, p. 24 Franklin Co. Marriage bond: Daniel Smith & Ruth Hickson, Jan. 7, 1789. Surety Daniel Hickson Now, a Gideon died c4 months before a Daniel obtained bond, but dates are c45 years before marriage of Creed Smith to Mary Radford. If the given names are a clue, then maybe by working backwards with deeds or something, you'll find the correct lineage for Creed. Good Hunting!
