John, I looked thru some Bedford, Campbell, Franklin published records here & found no Clifton and very little on Wood(s). Have you scoured Amherst Co. records? Obviously you've found proof for Austin's birth in Amherst, and Amherst had been in existence for 30 years before 1791. Was Austin born in 1791 or 1794-1797? Have you obtained either/or a Marriage Bond - Minister's return for the marriage between Austin & Eliza Woods? If so, what other names appear if any? Groping for clues.
