    1. [VAFRANKL] Peter/Peters
    2. Am searching for the parents/siblings of Zachariah Peters who married Kessiah Lively on 18 November 1794 in Amherst County, VA. My research has led me to believe that the surnames Peter & Peters are interchangeable. In Amherst County VA Deeds, 1761-1807 we find the following: 7 Feb 1800. RICH. BREEDLOVE & wife MILDRED, to NELSON ANDERSON for $300, 180 acres branches S fork Rockfish. Lines: JNO. BALL, WM. KEY, Glade Road, WM. CABELL, JAS. NEVIL. THOS. KEYS. Wit: ZACH. NEVIL, ELISHA PETERS, ZACH. PETERS, CAREL EADS. This is the only evidence found so far that links Zachariah Peters to a contemporary of the same surname. Because of this, I believe that Zachariah & Elisha may be brothers or cousins. The hunt for Zachariah Peters 1st led myself & some other Peters' researchers to Amherst County, VA & a Rev. William Peter(s). According to a biography posted at ancestry.com, William Peter(s) was a minister of the Church of England who settled in VA in 1750 & who died in 1773. That same biography tells us that one of William Peter(s)' children was Elisha Peters who married Cynthia Turner on 17 February 1806 in Amherst County, VA. There is also another Amherst County marriage of an Elisha Peters to Jane Tiller on 1 June 1792. I do not know if these 2 marriages contain the same or different grooms. According to other information, the Rev. William Peter(s), father of Elisha, came from England with 2 brothers -- Richard Peter & John Peter, Jr. Another researcher has told us that Amherst County records indicate that land was purchased by William, Richard & John, Jr. in 1760. This land was in Albemarle County at the time. Can anyone tell me more about this Peter/Peters family? Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance for any information or guidance in this matter. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com
