Dear Chris, I just wanted to tell you of a story I read yesterday. The orgin of Maggodee Creek's name was related at a meeting of FCHS in 1979. The group discussing the OLD Carolina Road and the need to identify landmarks to determine the exact location of the road and other historic sites in the county. The orginal name of Maggodee Creek was of course, Maggoty Creek, as we know from old records Saunders Gerrant said the Old Carolina Road crossed the creek 22 times and someone was heard to say, "MY GOD, the creek".
