Boone (s) Mill Post Office Records held by the National archives and records service in Washington, D.C. show BoonesMill Post Office was established 2/13/1828 In Jan. 1837, The first Postmaster (Mr. George Wright, appointed 2/18/1828) . Mr. WRight had filled out a form listing the nearest post offices to "Boon's Mill"----Rocky Mt. was 12 miles distant Callaway's Mill was 6 miles in one direction and Early's Post Office, formly Cooper's Post Office was six miles. Boon Mill Post Office is on Maggottee Creek. Up to 1868 the post office was named Boon's Mill and the name of the tiny town was Teelsville.Mrs. Saul appointed 10/21/1869 IShe submitted a report to the topographer of the Post Office Dept. She describes the post office near Maggotty, then marked it out and wrote in "Teel's Creek, which she said was 1/8 mile . She said the post office was five miles north of Blackwater River Rural Free Delivary (R.F.D.) began in the U.S. in 1900 but did not become commonplace in Boones Mill until 1908.
