FYI: c205 entries for TURNER appear in the index to "The Vestry Book & Register of St. Peter's Parish, New Kent and James City Counties, Virginia, 1684-1786". Author was the renowned C. G. Chamberlayne, originally published 1937. My copy is a 1997 reprint by the Library of Virginia, 840 pages. Many entries will prove birth, spouse, death, land ownership. Turner names are John, James, Caleb, Henry, George, Waddey, William, Nathaniel, Charles, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Susanna, plus many more & often repeated. Hundreds of surnames in this book appear in early Lunenburg, Bedford, etc. Several subscribers to Franklin list have Turner ancestors and are actively searching. Two of the most active happen to be away from home right now, so keep subscribing. I don't have any Turners in my family tree that I know of... at least not in 5 or 6 generations prior to my parents. One thing I've learned is that there were several men named James Turner who were living in the Lunenburg-Bedford-Campbell-Henry-Franklin geography at the same time. Some were Quakers. They're most confusing! Sorry I don't have time for detailed look-ups, but thought this source might be important for those who've never heard of it. Regards, Bill, Fairport
