Hi, Bud. No, my initial qualifying ancestor was on my mother's side... Jennings THOMPSON, b. in Amelia CoVA in 1762, drafted in early 1781 and marched to Richmond and Williamsburg and several other places before being made an Orderly Sergeant and sent off to obtain beef for the army stationed around Yorktown. By the time he returned the British had surrendered, so he was marched back to Amelia and discharged. Among those he served under was Gen Lafayette, but I don't think he was ever in battle. I have about a half-dozen others that I can use as "supplementals" when I get around to it. Littleberry VEST's father, John VEST, is one of those. Which HALE are you looking to prove was in the Rev. War? If you've been looking? Not being able to find a particular fellow in the DAR's Patriot Index does not mean that he didn't serve in the war, it just means that no one has entered the DAR by qualifying on his service. There are many thousands of people who would qualify a descendant for membership, if their service in the military or civilian government, or supplying necessary things to the government, or even taking the Oath of Allegiance, can be proved. By the way, the Sons of the Revolution organization doesn't accept a man for membership just because the DAR accepts his ancestor, and vice versa. Which of your HALEs would have been of the right age (16-60... or thereabouts) at the time of the Revolution? Let me know and I'll try to help. Carolyn, thanks for the info and offer of help. The Hale of most likely age would have been John who married Sussannah Wade in Franklin Co 17 Mar 1789. He may have been a bit too young? I do not have his birth or death dates. I have additional info on two of his sons William and Thomas, both of whom are my ancestors. I have John's father as Thomas who married Jane Armstrong but no other info. My sisters are DAR members from Thomas Jones. I believe they could have used our Turner and DeShazo ancestors as well. I have found info where William DeShazo was a contentinal soldier, Joining up and marching to Valley Forge in spring of 1777. He served with Lafayette under Washington, was in many battles, the most noted were Monmoth and with General Wayne at Stony Point when it was captured. He was honorably discharged in 1780 and went on to marry Jane King. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carolyn Bruce" <cdhbruce@cox.net> To: <vafrankl@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 10:52 AM Subject: [VAFRANKL] Rev.
