    1. Re: [VAFRANKL] Look-ups
    2. Sarah: Good afternoon & welcome to our discussion. There are none of the Allen surname, with ties to Franklin or Floyd Counties of VA, found in "Nothing But Glory -- Pickett's Division at Gettysburg," by Kathy Georg Harrison & John W. Busey. There are three men named Trail who are listed in Companies formed from members of Franklin County, VA. In Company "C," AKA Franklin Fire Eaters, of the 57th VA Volunteer Infantry Regiment, we find the following information: Trail, Creed V.: Enl. 15 March 1863 at Fort Powhatan: AWOL 4 August through 19 September 1863. Trail, William V.: Enl. 15 March 1862 at Long Branch; (27 in 1865); farmer; born in Franklin County; shot in the left thigh fracturing the femur, and captured; exchanged from Chester Hospital 23 September 1863. In Company "D" of the 24th VA Volunteer Infantry Regiment is found the following: Trail, Daniel M.: Enl. 1 October 1862 at Winchester; AWOL 15 August 1863 There is a singular listing for Hambrick found under the heading of "Field and Staff" for the 24th VA Volunteer Infantry Regiment. His information is as follows: "Hambrick, Joseph Adam (Major): Born in Franklin County, VA 17 April 1833; graduated VMI in 1857; University of Virginia graduate; lawyer; enl. 23 May 1861 at Lynchburg as Captain of Company B; promoted to Major 9 April 1863; slightly wounded during the cannonade; his horse (a bay) was killed at Gettysburg and appraised at $550 for which Major Hambrick was reimbursed after the battle." I hope you find this information useful Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com
