I just found that there are land records in 1779 in Bedford Co. for HENRY WOODY, WILLIAM WOODY, AND THOMAS ROBERTSON. Does anyone know anything about these records, if there were land sales soon, as both Henry Woody and Thomas Robinson/Robertson were in Franklin Co. in 1797/1800. Any idea where I might find records on this will be appreciated. Now...I am in posession of the 1880 US census, and will look up anyone that you feel was in VA or other places then. All I ask is: please do not ask for more than one name at a time. If at all possible I will search for them and get back to you right away. Margaret Heinek

Margaret, you can find most land records in the Library of Virginia files, they are digital and you can read, print or download copies of the actual records. You can search by surname, be sure and use variant spellings as the response is based on how the name WAS spelled not how it should have been spelled. Here is the url to the Library of Virginia. They have many other types of records that are digital and everyone with lineage in VA should investigate.
