The roster for Company "D" of the 24th VA Volunteer Infantry Regiment contains two men of the Ziegler surname. Their information is listed in the following way: Ziegler, Thomas F.: Shot in the thigh; died of tetanus at Pickett's Division Hospital 16 July 1863 and buried at Bream's Mill above Myers' house at the side of a fence; disinterred to Richmond 3 August 1872 with 33 others in three large boxes marked "P Curns." Ziegler, William G.: The company reports him as missing in action but there are no Federal records concerning him; killed. Company "D" was organized 13 May 1861 at Rocky Mount, Franklin County, VA.
