My ggggrandfather was James Allen, who married Nancy (Cannaday) Ward. I have always thought he was a brother to William. James and Stephen Allen both left Franklin Co And went to Wayne Co Ky. from there to Warren Co Ky and James and Nancy then went to Franklin Co. Il. They lived around Endicott, in Franklin Co. Va. I've heard some say there were two sets of Allens around Endicott. Does anyone know about this? Neva in Illinois. ----- Original Message ----- From: <SandraG627@aol.com> To: <VAFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 06, 2001 7:47 AM Subject: [VAFRANKL] allen, william bef 1765 > This is one of my lines, does anyone have more info on them? > > Descendants of William Allen > > 1 William ALLEN b: Bef. 1765 > .. +UNKNOWN b: Bef. 1765 > .... 2 William ALLEN, Jr. b: 1785 in Franklin Co., VA > ........ +Susannah SMITH b: 1795 in Virginia m: 10 March 1812 in > Franklin Co., VA > .... 2 Gracie ALLEN b: Abt. 1788 d: Bef. 1860 in Kanawha Co., > VA > ........ +Robert O BROGAN b: 1781 in Virginia m: 18 February 1806 > in Franklin Co., VA d: Abt. 1856 in Kanawha Co., VA > .... 2 Andrew ALLEN b: 1790 in Virginia > ........ +Levina ROBERTS b: 1806 in Virginia m: March 1823 in Franklin > Co., VA > .... 2 Theodocia ALLEN b: 1793 in Franklin Co., VA > ........ +William ESCUE b: 1791 m: 17 February 1817 in Franklin Co., > VA Father: Father ESCUE > .... 2 Male ALLEN b: Bet. 1800 - 1810 > .... 2 Male ALLEN b: Bet. 1800 - 1810 > > Thanks for writing, > Sandy in Florida > Just got home from a week in Colorado, it was great! > > > ==== VAFRANKL Mailing List ==== > TO UNSUBSCRIBE from this mailing list, send a message to > VAFRANKL-L-request@rootsweb.com containing only the one word > unsubscribe. I have recently found a probable cousin but we cannot quite confirm any of our families. If I have a solid date he does not and vise-versa. Question: how many known family Wray Lines existed in Franklin Co. VA in say 1786. Both of our relations would have been in the Boones Mill area. Second did any Lemon Families during the late 1700's or is this likely Layman (or is the name intermixed? From the cemeteries book it looks to me that the name was modified in the late 1800's but this is my speculation.) Any comments are appreciated Michael A. Michael, I cannot help you on the Wray line, but I can tell you that Isaac Lemon and Levina (Vina) Richardson married in Franklin County on 5-1-1786. They had 11 children all of which married in Franklin except one. We have not been able to learn the parents of either Isaac or Vina. Lemon has always been spelled this way. There was another family who spelled their name different, his first name was Daniel. In Botetourt county there are some Lemon/Layman families, which I have been unable to connect to the Franklin line. Hope this may be some help to you.
