Franklin County, VA. Genealogy Discussion Group to Hold Meeting in Franklin County, Va. The "Hills of Home , Franklin County" genealogy group will meet on Wednesday, July 18th at 1pm in the meeting room at the Franklin County Public Library. There will be a round-table discussion about genealogy research and any problems anyone may have with their research. EVERYONE is invited whether you live in Franklin County or not and you do not have to be a member to attend. Bring your notebooks and your questions and join us for a good time. I do know one issue with many is the name of my newsletter and group- Hills of Home Franklin County, Virginia Genealogy Newsletter. YES, I agree this is too long. SUGGESTIONS have been: 1. Franklin County Genealogy Society 2. Franklin County Heritage Society ALSO, SUGGESTIONS: 1.Mail the newsletter 2. Email the newsletter (I can answer this question now, this project started as a result of many calls, emails, letters ,etc. to myself and Beverly Merritt re: Genealogy in the county- I did a complimentary newsletter in honor of my son who passed away- I mailed over 350 newsletters. The response was so great this prompted a second newsletter and memberships) HOWEVER, I do not have the volunteers to sort through who has email and who does not. The 3rd newsletter is in the works but it will only be snail mailed.
