Donna: I don't know Franklin County well enough to answer that. When my mom was born, they had already moved into Roanoke. I think that my grandparents were even married in Roanoke. My grandfather (who died many years before I was born) was Samuel Archie Boothe. His father's name was William Burwell Boothe (m. Susan "Martha" Winfrey), and his grandpather was William Boothe (m. Lucinda Trail). Wm & Lucinda are in the 1850 census, but I don't have what region they're in. When I come down to Franklin County for vacation and go to Smith Mtn Lake, we pass some Boothe businesses near Halesford. My mom thinks that they are kin, but we're not sure. I'm not sure about Penhook, but that's because I don't know Franklin County.
