Hi Paula and group What a surprise to see this link. This map is on my personal website and was an experiment. I am using online software from Mapbuilder.net to create this Google "mashup". I only put a few cemeteries to test the online system. If people in the group are interested I can add more. I use various sources to come up with the location of "historical" cemeteries, schools, communities, post offices, etc. Once I have the coordinates, I use the software to place them on the Google map. I am also the webmaster for the American Local History Network (ALHN) for Meigs County, Tennessee. On this website, I have many more "mashups" for Meigs County cemeteries, communities, post offices, etc. If you are interested in having a look, the link is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnmeigs/ The site is far from complete, but if you want to see how much information can be included in such a system, click on Cemeteries and navigate to Meigs County cemeteries and then click on Moore Family cemetery. I have all of the known graves for that cemetery.
