We have been searching/researching Cooper family in Franklin County, VA. There were three brothers: Charles, John and Thomas. According to marriage records, Charles married Jane Richardson on March 7, 1786. John married Sarah Hall in 1793:Thomas married Nancy Cornelius on August 25, 1797. Our line is the Thomas/NancyCornelius Cooper line which we have had considerable success in tracing forward. The only information we have concerning these three brother's father is that his name was Thomas. This Thomas Cooper appears in the first list of Tithables for Pittsylvania taken July 17, 1767 by Peter Copeland. This list was made the year Pittsylvania county was formed from part of Halifax county. The Cooper family was in Lunnenburg County until 1752, when the formation of Halifax from Lunnenburg left the family in the new county of Franklin. Can anyone help with further identification of the son's father Thomas Cooper? His wife, parents or siblings? Any information would! be most helpful, because we have run into one of those "stone walls" of genealogy. Of course, we would be more than delighted to share any information we have on the younger Thomas Cooper family line.
