By any chance do you think the name might ever have been spelled WRAY? I looked through published abstracts of Franklin Co.Will Bk 1, 1786-1812, and saw no RAY but a bunch of WRAY, incl. will of Moses WRAY 1802, proved 1802. Two of his 9 or 10 sons were James and William. Also mentioned " my well beloved Tabitha Wright". She would not have been your Miss Tabby. Let me know if you want more details.
