    3. Interested in finding the present day location of the "Griffith Place" referenced in the following letter from Isaac Lemons to Dr. A.D. Wood dated 4/28/1922. The letter provides the following clues as to its location: The "Griffith Place" lies to the south-east of Dr. Woods "old home place". The property in 1922 was then owned by Marion Agee. Sixty years prior to 1922 the place was owned by John Snuffer. John Y. Shortt moved to this property in 1837 and built a house that was still standing in 1922. The property apparently had a grave yard, as well as one lone grave some distance from the grave yard. One of Jehu Griffith's sons was buried on the property, perhaps at the lone grave mentioned above. In other notes of Dr. Woods this place may have been purchased by Jehu Griffith and be on the Floyd -Cannadays Gap Road seven miles east of the county seat. I have a copy of a potentially related document. A deed dated 2/5/1858 (1922-1858= 64 years, this part work out well) where Jehu Griffith purchased 196 acres from "Peter Snuffer executor of John Snuffer deceased said Peter Snuffer now of Raleigh County Virginia". The land marks referenced in this deed are as follows: Jefferson Turners Spring Branch, John Youngs line, Fishers line, Hickmans Branch, and Runnet Bag Creek. However this deed references the location as Franklin County while Dr. Woods info references Floyd County. I seem to remember that the County line in this area changed at some time, does anyone know if this change occurred between 1858 and 1922? I appreciate any help that can be provided. Gary Griffith
