I believe that this week someone posted Minter as a surname on either the Franklin or Henry Co lists. I just thought I'd mention that in the course of organizing my Saunders information..and yes that would be relatives of you Peter Hyde>Fleming Saunders folks in Franklin Co..so believing in the gang theory of migration as Ido I mention that I've come across an Anthony Minter in Cumberland and Powhatan Co VA, late He took inventories, along with James Bagby and George Owen in 1768 for my ggggg grandfather John Hyde Saunders Sr. and his first cousin John Johnson (son of Daniel Johnson who married Mary Saunders, sister of John Hyde Saunders' father John Saunders). These two characters' wills and inventories, etc. all seem to be processed at the same time leading me to think they got themselves into some kind of joint trouble at the same time. Both had young children. Also not only Johnson and Saunders were involved in the wills, but Bartholomew Stovall, Jr. was involved with both. (and he too has cousins in Franklin & Henry Co)...John Hyde Saunders Sr.'s father John Saunders took as second wife, after Jane Hyde, Anne Burton Stovall, widow of Bartholomew Stovall Sr. I've always wondered how these step-cousins got along. Seems pretty good. FYI, I have abstracts for both the John Johnson and Jno Hyde Saunders wills and inventories 1768 from a fine new TLC Genealogy publication in 2000. Then the 1815 tax list for Powhatan Co VA shows the estate of Anthony Minter in Jefferson, Powhatan Co VA, which was the Saunders (and Baugh) stronghold it appears. FYI, Linda Starr....These Johnsons now????? I've known about this for three years, but never really thought about it until I saw their wills and inventories side by side.. Best Regards, Janet (Baugh) Hunter
