I am researching the Sigmon surname and need some help. A John Sigmon married Ann Hancock in Franklin Co. Sept 30, 1839. Ann was the half-sister to my ancestor, Reuben James. They shared the same mother, Frances James Hancock. I have found John and Ann in the 1850 Franklin Co. census with no children in the household. I was given info several years ago that stated John and Ann went to Kanawha Co., Va/now WV where Ann died. This info showed that John and Ann had several children, some being born before 1850. When in fact the 1850 census shows otherwise. I do find in Kanawha Co. a John Sigmon and a Larkin Sigmon, (I find this man in Franklin Co census) and I am assuming they are brothers. I have not been able to locate John and Ann in the 1860 census, I did, however, find a John Sigmore in Kanawha Co 1860 along with Larkin Signore (error on the surname by the enumerator). This John has a wife named Emma, both would have been born abt. 1818 in Virginia. The problem I have with this couple is that some of their children have the same names that were given to me as being the children of Ann. I am beginning to believe maybe Ann died in Franklin Co and John remarried an Emma. Does anyone have any info on these Sigmons that would be of help to me? I am at a loss on John and Ann Sigmon.
