Here's another train wreck in Danville - http://www.talkeetna.com/Reviews/Old97/Old97.html "The Old 97, a Southern Railway train enroute to Spencer, N.C., derailed at Stillhouse Trestle near Danville, Virginia, on September 27, 1903, killing 11. This photograph was taken from the original glass negative and was copyrighted by the Williams Studio of Danville in 1960." I still seem to remember more pictures about one in Southern Franklin County, I just can't find them. -----Original Message----- From: Linda Jo Sheahan [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 5:44 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [VAFRANKL] Circus Train Wreck Yes, I did read about it, but I can't remember where. I'll look for it later today. He remembered in the 1920's a circus train wrecked between Henry and Prillaman's Switch. An Elephant was killed and buried beside the tracks. Anyone familiar with this story? Wasn't there also something about an escaped circus elephant near Elephant Curve in Floyd?
