>From the History Book of Grayson Co, Texas, and submitted by Dr. Roy Edward Renfro Jr. The following is what he published in the book in 1980. This is a short biog of what he wrote: He descends from Haden Wilson Renfro and wife Rachel Ellen Preston who came to Fannin Co, Tx from Barren Co, Ky. The Renfro heritage spans over 300 years, as land grant records in Va before 1638. Three brothers, James, Joseph and William were the forefathers of most present day Renfros in America. William born 1702 in James City County, Va married Elizabeth China in 1726. Their son William was born May 14, 1734 Va and died Sept 1, 1830 in Culleoka, Maury Co, Tenn at age of 96. First wife unknown but to them were born 6 children: John, Lydia, Jane, Moses, Jesse, and Nancy. William's homeplace is standingon the banks of Fountain Creek east of Culleoka, Tenn. The log house and it's magnificient chimneys were built before Tenn statehood and were previously in North Carolina. William is buried in the family cemetery on a tree-coveredridge behind the Renfro home. William's first son John, was Haden's grandfather, he was born Nov12, 1760, in Bedford Co, Va, and died April 22, 1846 in Barren Co, Ky. John married Esther Peak Feb 1781 Henry Co, Va. Both John and Father William fought in the Rev War, signed allegiance, Henry Co, Va courthouse 1777. John was a drummer boy and private in the cavairy, commanded by Capt Hairston of the regiment commanded by Col. Shelby in the Va militia. In his pension application he stated his father returned from the battle of yorktown and the surrender of General Cornwallis. John and Esther had 6 sonsIsaac, Jesse, John, William, Joshua and Joseph.. Haden's father was Joseph who was born June 21, 1801 in South Carolina and died Oct 1853 in Warren Co, Ky. Joseph married Sarah Ralston April 28, 1821 Barren Co, Ky. Joseph and Sarah had 13 children: Beverly, Robert, Schuyler, James Robert, John William, Thomas J., Isabel Susan, Catherine, Hardin Davis, Joseph R., Sarah E., Martha Ellen and Haden Wilson who was born Aug 22, 1849 Barren Co, Ky and died Dec 31, 1917 Fannin Co, Texas.
