Do you know of Renfro Valley, Kentucky? It has long been a mainstay of performance venues in Kentucky. Renfro Valley, Kentucky Renfro Valley is a Rockcastle county community just north of Mount Vernon and now within its city limits. It was named for Renfro Creek which was named for James Renfro, an early land owner in the area. Settlement began around 1789. The Renfro Valley post office opened in 1939. My Millie was born to "one of the 3 Rentfro brothers at Rentfro Station on the Red River". I have eliminated Moses and one of the James as her father. My Millie married Moses Shelby and moved to Kentucky. They lived in Livingston Co until 1812, when they moved to New Madrid, MO. A John Rentfro posted bond for their son's marriage in KY in 1821. I have thought he was the son of Joseph and Olive Rentfro. Joseph was killed by indians around 1780, and Olive later showed up in Livingston Co, KY, living near this John, who died in KY. But another researcher shows their son John living and dying in Tenn. I have tried to chart out a huge family tree, but there are so many with the same name, it's hard to keep them straight.
