Thank you Don and Gerald -- It's nice to possibly put this puzzle in place. My mother (1911 - 2003) would comment about this family friend and that. I kept my ears open for any clues to possible family ties. These two families -- the Dickinsons and the Overstreets -- she mentioned often. I believe they were close friendships of the Hodges family that extended way back to their years in Franklin Co.; then the friendships continued when they moved to MO. My grandfather (1879 - 1935) was a newspaper owner/editor and also a MO state legislator. He had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the state and was able to keep up many old family ties. Unfortunately the part of my family that had posession of his personal papers and those of older members of the family deliberately burned them all in a fit of spite. I know that included letters written to family and associates by both my great grandfather (during his years serving in the Civil War) and my grandfather's personal journals. What a loss! But I appreciate both of you taking the time to maybe sort out the meaning of saving this little newspaper clipping for me.
