Hi Jan -- I know those headaches. In my parent's last 40 years of life they lived in Cahokia, St. Clair Co., IL. Across the street were close friends by the name of Norman. I know that Norman family were long time IL residents with ancestors in the same IL area you are looking. Jefferson Co. is in the middle of southern Illinois and St. Clair Co. is an hour drive directly east and located on the Missippi River across from St. Louis, MO. Most of the people I grew up with in Cahokia lived there to work in St. Louis. At the moment I cannot recall the given name of the father of that Norman family but I'll check Mom's phone book. They had several children and when I left our old home in Cahokia one of the daughter's still lived across the street with her husband and family. I don't know if that is any help but clues are clues till you start digging and then sometimes they become facts!
