JoAnn, there is a Robert Martin in the 1820 Franklin Co. VA Census, with one daughter under age 10. I'm not sure which Robert Martin this is, but suspect it's the son of James Sr., who married S. Ray. Does this match? James Sr. had a son named Robert; and John Sr.'s son, Hugh, had a son named Robert. No, I don't believe the Pittsylvania Martins are the same; John Martin Sr. married a "Margaret". I'm not sure how the William Martins are related to John and James.
